Our Farm
About Us
In 2013, we packed up our lives in Southern California—careers and all—and traded the hustle for something slower, simpler, and more meaningful. What we found was a small slice of paradise: a five-acre coffee farm tucked into the heart of the Kona Coffee Belt.
Our coffee is personal. We hand-pick only the ripest cherries during the harvest season (July through January), then process and sun-dry the beans right here on the farm. Each roast—Light, Medium, and Dark—is crafted in small batches by a local roaster we trust, bringing out the unique character of our land and the love we’ve poured into it.
We’ve shared our coffee at the annual Kailua-Kona Coffee Festival, placed in the Top 10 multiple times, and even won the Chef’s Award at the Holualoa Stroll in 2022. But the best part? Hearing how our coffee has become part of your mornings, your late-night study sessions, your slow weekends, and time with people you love.

The name Makana means “gift” in Hawaiian—and that’s exactly what this journey has been to us. A gift to live and grow in Hawaiʻi. A gift to share something handcrafted and delicious. And a gift wrapped up in family: Martinez, Andrea, Kiki (now the Kelleys), Alex, ‘N Alyssa.
Whether you’re a longtime coffee drinker or just beginning to explore specialty coffee, we’re so glad you’re here. Our hope is simple: that every cup of Makana brings you joy, connection, and a moment to slow down and savor what really matters.
From our farm to your cup—welcome to our MAKANA family.
